The 4×4 pedigree of the all-new 2018 Jeep® Wrangler was established over the years on the battlefield, off-road trails and many other challenging terrains.
This long history of 4×4 mastery was rolled into the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler with two advanced driveline systems. The Command-Trac® and Rock-Trac® 4×4 systems provide ground-pounding grip for any adventure thrown the Wrangler’s way.
Command-Trac® 4×4 System
The Command-Trac® 4×4 system, with an NV241 transfer case, allows drivers to get through any off-road obstruction or weather condition with ease. This shift-on-the-fly 4×4 system can be engaged while in motion and up to speeds of 55 mph. It also features a 2.72:1 low range for rock crawling and neutral for available flat towing.
Wrangler Sport and Sahara models equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission benefit from a 48.18:1 crawl ratio, while Sport and Sahara models with the eight-speed automatic transmission feature a 44.20:1 crawl ratio.
Rock-Trac® 4×4 System
The Rock-Trac 4×4 system gives drivers superior off-road performance, more control and more torque. This system is standard on Wrangler Rubicon models, and comes with an enhanced NV241 OR transfer case with a 4:1 low gear ratio. The Rubicon’s off-road prowess is further bolstered by the all-new Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials and an electronic front sway-bar disconnect.
