FCA vehicles assist in the fight against COVID-19

We are supporting communities, nonprofits and others across the United States and Canada by loaning vehicles to help those in need and to assist in the COVID-19 pandemic fight.

In Michigan’s Macomb County, where we have a number of facilities, including two assembly plants and two stamping plants, the Ram Truck brand offered three Promaster vans, for use by Macomb Community Action (MCA), an agency that provides comprehensive educational, economic and social services to Macomb County residents in need.

“MCA has seen an increased need for food, emergency financial assistance, rent, mortgage, utility payments and sanitary and hygiene supplies,” said Ernest Cawvey, Macomb Community Action director. 

“These work vans will be able to support many of our essential services during the coronavirus crisis. This includes support for the food delivery for our seniors’ Meals on Wheels program, the 60+ food pantries of Macomb County and the children and family services of the Head Start program.”

The ProMaster vans will also help promote the 2020 Census through the “Count on Macomb Census 2020” operations, including drive-thru picnics across the county and other outreach activities.

In New York City, which experienced the greatest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, the Jeep® brand provided five vehicles to the USO to support the military medical personnel and National Guard members assigned to the USNS Comfort hospital ship, the Javits Center, the Camp Smith military installation and other locations in the New York City area.

The Jeep vehicles were used to drop off thousands of snacks, beverages and personal care items for those serving on the front lines in New York. 

“Thank you Jeep, for the five vehicles. You’ve made it incredibly easy for us to deliver support to the thousands of service members deployed throughout our area,” said USO of Metropolitan New York CEO Brian Whiting in a release. 

Two additional Jeep vehicles also supported the USO’s efforts in southern California with the USNS Mercy hospital ship and military members in the region.

In Detroit, the city’s Public Health Department is using two Chrysler Pacificas to transport staff to homeless shelter (COVID-19) outreach programs, to transport medical staff to nursing homes to conduct testing and to deliver personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical staff and patients.  

We also loaned two Pacifica minivans, a Jeep Gladiator and a Ram ProMaster to the Red Cross in Quebec, Canada, to assist in food and PPE deliveries.

Lending vehicles to government agencies and nonprofits is just one of the ways we are supporting communities where we operate.
