For generations, the Jeep Wrangler has captured the imagination of off-road enthusiasts, explorers and those who love the outdoors.
Now, the most-capable SUV ever is inspiring a new generation.
But instead of taking the legendary 4×4 off the beaten path, these young designers have the opportunity to look to the future and design the 2030 Jeep Wrangler in the FCA US Product Design Office’s 2018 Drive for Design contest.
This is the sixth consecutive year the Product Design Office has held the contest in order to expose young artists to the various career opportunities in automotive design. This year, winners will not only be able to get a sneak peek into how a design studio functions, but also spend time with the designers who create some of the most exciting vehicles on the road today. Students can try their hand at designing the exterior, or interior, of a Jeep Wrangler for 12 years in the future.
Prizes for the first place winner include an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the FCA US Product Design studios, the opportunity to work one-on-one with professional automotive designers and a two-week summer automotive design course at Lawrence Technological University. There are prizes for the second and third place finishers that include a personal one-on-one day of design inside the FCA Product Design Office.
The contest is open to legal U.S. residents in grades 10-12 currently attending a U.S. high school. Students interested in entering better hurry, the deadline is April 27, 2018. Those interested in entering can find out more information, and submit their designs, via www.FCAdrivefordesign.com.
