The innovative and unique Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has been named the 2018 Best Car to Buy by Green Car Reports.
The Pacifica Hybrid received the honor from the online resource for “green” cars because it’s a “one-of-a-kind”
vehicle. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is the only seven-seat minivan with a plug-in hybrid powertrain sold in the United States this year, the article stated.
“Now, for the first time, there’s an affordable vehicle for suburban families who carry up to seven people and their gear in everyday travel,” wrote John Voelcker, editor of Green Car Reports.
The Pacifica Hybrid has a class-exclusive, innovative plug-in hybrid powertrain. This powertrain delivers 84 MPGe and a range of 33 miles solely on zero-emissions electric power from a 16-kWh lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery.
When the battery’s energy is depleted to a certain threshold, the Pacifica Hybrid becomes a part-time electric vehicle, like a conventional hybrid.
“We remain awed by the excellence of the basic vehicle and the smoothness and real-world electric power and range of the plug-in hybrid powertrain,” Voelcker wrote.
The Pacifica Hybrid also offers a total gas and electric range of 566 miles, more than 100 available safety and security features, the all-new Uconnect Theater rear seat entertainment system, and a full array of comfort and convenience technologies.
“The virtues of the basic Chrysler Pacifica are well-documented: it’s stylish, with an interior design far more elegant than you’d expect, plus excellent controls and interactive displays and more family-friendly features than we have space to cover,” Voelcker added. “The plug-in Pacifica takes electric drive into a new category, leapfrogging Chrysler into the lead in an emerging segment of large but affordable family vehicles that plug in for part of their travel.”
