In the rolling hills northeast of Atlanta, the SRT Motorsports team has spent the week getting its racing SRT Viper GTS-R cars ready for the final race of the 2013 American Le Mans Series — the Petit Le Mans.
The race starts Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Eastern and runs for 1,000 miles or 10 hours, whichever comes first.
It was just a year ago that the Viper racing team was in its early stages and looking just to finish the race at Petit Le Mans. Now, in a season that included a victory at Road America, a second-place finish in Austin, Texas, and the return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the driver teams for the No. 91 and No. 93 SRT Viper GTS-R cars have set their goals high for this weekend.
Here are some comments from the drivers of the No. 93 car: Jonathan Bomarito, Tommy Kendall and Kuno Wittmer.
They are joined in the chase for a victory by the drivers of the No. 91 car: Marc Goossens, Dominik Farnbacher and Ryan Dalziel.
While the race marks the end of the season and the conclusion for the American Le Mans Series, it also marks the start of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. It will be a shorter off-season as the cars return to the track in late January for the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
