Locations such as Lisbon, Portugal, and Arossim Beach in India might not seem to have much in common. One is a nation’s capital and a major European city, while the other is a quiet destination located on the West coast of India. Those distinctly different locales were linked together this month, as they hosted media drive programs for the all-new Jeep Compass, the most capable compact SUV ever.
More than 500 journalists from 36 countries across Europe and the Middle East gathered in Lisbon to drive the Jeep Compass equipped with both gas and diesel engines. The two-day program included an off-road course in and around the Sintra area. In India, over 100 journalists flew to Arossim, located in the state of Goa, also for a first taste of the all-new Compass. In this case, media got behind the wheel of the right-hand drive version of the vehicle, which is produced locally in the city of Ranjangaon.
The new Compass is leaving a mark in the compact-size global SUV segment, which is the second largest SUV segment in the world, exceeding 6.3 million vehicles a year, and is already the largest SUV segment in Europe.
The all-new Jeep Compass continues the momentum of the Jeep brand around the world. Jeep brand sales in markets outside of North America have increased almost 30 percent in 2017.
