Having a home is a “foundational building block” in our lives that can serve as a launching point for a better life and community.
That philosophy is why FCA Senior Manager for Vehicle Fuel Economy and Greenhouse Gas Compliance Matt Reynolds and his wife have been involved with Habitat for Humanity for 20 years. Reynolds was one of 125 FCA US employees who volunteered time Monday morning in Auburn Hills in support of World Habitat Day.
The Motor Citizens, what we call members of the FCA US volunteer program, built storage sheds, wheelchair ramps and picnic tables to be used by Habitat for Humanity Detroit, Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County and Macomb County Habitat for Humanity.
“Service is at the core of the FCA culture, and our collaborative efforts today are a fitting highlight of how we seek to reinforce what we believe across all that we do,” said Head of Civic Engagement Lesley Slavitt.
In addition to hearing the pounding of hammers and swishing of paint brushes, those around our Auburn Hills complex could see employees loading household appliances, furniture and other items on a fleet of Ram pickups, headed to Habitat for Humanity ReStores. ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that are open to the public and help fund Habitat operations.
