Record-Breaking Challenger

The ¼-mile record for the modern-day Challenger has been broken once again, and this time it was topped by the record-holder himself. Rob Goss and his 2009 Dodge Challenger with a DragPak kit bested the original record with a time of 7.32 seconds, more than half a second faster.

The Challenger hit 187 mph and Goss was able to post the time during his first quarter-mile pass during the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) Muscle Car Series in the Street Outlaw Class at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Fla., on March 22, 2014.

Since breaking the prior record in October 2013, Goss had time to work on his Challenger including improving the aero drag and reducing the weight.

High Horse Performance (HHP) Racing built the DragPak Challenger and the HHP/BES 404.ci. aluminum race engine was built byBES Engine Service. The Challenger also has a Pro Charger F1X Supercharger.

Goss and his Challenger will return to the track this weekend at theAtlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga.
