Bat-tery Cave: Prep your garage for the Jeep® Wrangler 4xe

Finding the lure of 21 miles of all-electric range combined with nearly silent off-roading and unequaled open-air freedom impossible to resist? Then it’s time to put a Jeep® Wrangler 4xe in your garage.

The Wrangler 4xe leaves the plant in Toledo, Ohio, with a Level 1 (120-volt) charge cable included. So if your garage has an available wall outlet, you’re all set for recharging. It takes 12 hours for the Level 1 charger to fully charge the 17 kilowatt-hour battery pack in the Wrangler 4xe.

You can shorten the recharge time to about two hours if you have a Level 2 (240-volt) charge unit installed in the garage.

The electric service upgrade and charger installation must be performed by a licensed professional. Mopar offers a Level 2 home EV charger. Also, Jeep has partnered with Qmerit to make scheduling installation of a home charger easy.

Also, you can set up a schedule in the Hybrid Electric Pages in the vehicle’s 8.4-inch Uconnect display so that Wrangler 4xe charges overnight, taking advantage of cheaper electricity rates.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines two electric motors with a high-tech, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, gives the Wrangler 4xe estimated total driving range of 370 miles.

Level 2 charging, whether at home or at a public charging station, keeps your Wrangler 4xe ready for nearly silent running on your daily drive — up to 21 miles per charge.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe turns your garage into a bat-tery cave!

Do you know your blood type? Mine is 100 octane (not your standard blood bank classification). At any given moment, I’m thinking about cars – driving one, fixing one, buying one or (in my dreams) restoring one. So I love to tell stories that involve horsepower, brake and wheel diameters and 0-to-60 times – and the people who make it happen. Because behind every awesome vehicle are amazing people with vision and the desire to make it a reality. I cover Mopar, Dodge, SRT and motorsports for Stellantis Digital Media. I learned to drive on a 1973 Jeep CJ-5 with the rare Super Jeep option package and three-speed manual transmission. I still belong to the dwindling club of people who prefer to shift their own gears, and think the best way to drive is with the top down!
