The nearly 1,000 cars that rolled into the Verizon Amphitheater parking lot in Irvine, Calif., last weekend packed plenty of horsepower and attention-grabbing looks.
More importantly, the steady stream of Chrysler 300s and Dodge Chargers, Challengers and Magnums carried some of the Chrysler Group’s most-passionate fans.
This was the ninth year for the Spring Festival of LXs, organized by the SoCalLX club and LXForums.com. And every year the number of cars and people that make the trip to the Spring Fest has grown. Those who can’t make it keep track via social media and make plans for next year.
Beyond seeing the cars, most people at Spring Fest say they come to reconnect with old friends, make new friends or meet the face behind a forum handle they know. And their passion for Chrysler Group’s modern-day muscle cars is worn on their sleeves — literally.
For some, their car is a weekend hobby, while others spend every day behind the wheel. And, for some LX fans, the car is something even bigger, such as the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T owned by Tony Young of Dallas. Here’s his story:
