Flashback to 1957 when Buddy Holly, the Everly Brothers and Elvis topped the charts. Dwight D. Eisenhower was president and the price of gas was 24 cents a gallon. The first Frisbee took a flying leap and ‘Leave it to Beaver’ and ‘American Bandstand’ were the new kids on the block. Cars from the Motor City were growing in importance and size as families grew and moved to the suburbs.
In Italy, it was a different story for FIAT. A new small car called the Fiat 500 or Fiat Nuova Cinquecento marked the rebirth of the automaker and signaled independence and affordable mobility for many Italians.
The original 1957 Fiat Nuova was just 116 inches long and 52 inches wide but could carry 154 pounds of luggage, which was an important feature.
To celebrate the 57th anniversary of the original 1957 Nuova Cinquecento, the new 2014 Fiat 500 “1957 Edition” is a throwback to history, with modern technology, created for Italian car and design fans who want to relive the spirit of the historic Cinquecento.
Adding to the vintage look of the “1957 Edition” are the classic exterior colors including Bianco, Verde Chiaro or Celeste pictured below. It also features a 16-inch retro wheel design as well as throwback “FIAT” badges on the front and rear of the car. There’s also a uniquely styled key fob.
Today the FIAT brand opened orders for the new 2014 Fiat 500 1957 Edition and pricing starts at just $20,400 U.S. MSRP. The 2014 Fiat 500 1957 Edition arrives in studios this spring.
