Jeep Girls Blow Through Windy City

In celebration of American Legend’s month of heritage and tradition, Brittany and I headed to one of our favorite cities, The Windy City! We jumped in our Flame Red Jeep® Cherokee and decided to hit the list of “must see” visitor’s attractions.

We headed down Chicago’s Magnificent Mile to take a cruise on Wendella, Chicago’s original narrated waterway tour. We enjoyed the Lake and River Tour, a classic. The Wendella has been running the Chicago River since 1962. Wendella has been a part of Chicago’s history for over 75 years, starting in 1935 shortly after Chicago hosted the World’s Fair. Our cruise took us on Lake Michigan, giving us a wonderful view of the Chicago skyline, followed by a cruise on The Chicago River, allowing visitors a unique vantage point, navigating right between the skyscrapers. The Wendella is a fabulous introduction into Chicago’s rich cultural heritage.

After our cruise, we headed to one of the tallest buildings in the Western Hemisphere, The Willis Tower (which Chicagoans still fondly refer to as The Sears Tower). We jumped, literally, in the rapid speed elevator that took us to Skydeck Chicago on the 103rd floor! On a clear day, you can see four states- Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan! The visibility is about 50 miles! Taking a deep breath, Brittany and I prepared for the plunge, or so it seemed as we entered The Ledge, one of four retractable glass balconies that extend 4.3 feet off the Skydeck! It was quite exhilarating to see a Jeep drive 1,353 feet below the box! The Ledge experience is like no other observation deck. You will get butterflies as soon as you look at your toes on The Ledge! A true adventure that everyone must experience!

Just before sunset, we ran over to Chicago’s Navy Pier to take a ride in The Seadog! As wild adventurers, we experienced Seadog’s Extreme Thrill Ride. The Seadog Extreme is like an SRT in the water. This beast is the “most horse-powered commercial vessel of its kind cruising the Great Lakes.” The boat ride plays fun and energetic rock and roll tunes as the Captain makes full 180-360° spins. Brit caught a great photo as water sprayed me in the face! I had a quick thought as I wiped the water out of my eyes, just thinking about how fun it would be to ride on this vessel all day, everyday! The Seadog’s Extreme Thrill Ride has inspired us to keep living the dream!

On our way back to the Jeep, we stopped at Garrett’s Popcorn, for our favorite “Chicago Mix” with stained orange fingers, we couldn’t stop smiling! Whoa! What a day! Chicago is one incredible city!

Until next time…
