More than a year ago, Juan Manuel Rizzati (right in the photo) and Santiago Uranga embarked on a journey from their native Argentina toward the state of Alaska in a 1964 Fiat 600 model. The pair set out from the National Flag Memorial in Rosario, Argentina on Jan. 26, 2013 with the purpose of making a positive impact on the environment throughout their voyage.
Their goal: “Raise awareness about the environment and promote afforestation” as they plant trees in each town they pass. Like this trip, they believe nature knows no frontiers.
Rizzati and Uranga have left their mark on Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. Recently they entered the United States (right) and already have met San Antonio Spur Manu Ginobili in Texas and enjoyed listening to jazz in New Orleans. Before heading further north, the guys will make a stop in Miami for the Florida Car Marathon during the first weekend of April.
To help finance their bold excursion, Rizzati and Uranga do work in the communities they drive through, as well as speak at conferences regarding their trip and the environment.
